About Us
At 1822 Websites & Designs, you will find a team of digital enthusiasts who’s roots are deeply embedded in the Iroquois culture and hail from Kahnawake, a Mohawk community near Montreal Canada. 1822 Websites & Designs was founded by Wahsontiio Stacey in 2023, he dedicated nearly two years to developing and honing the skills necessary to successfully launch our digital agency. The culture we have developed here at 1822 is a testament to learning, evolving, overcoming adversity and embracing new beginnings.
Wahsontiio’s early years were marked by athletic success in ice hockey, earning a full athletic scholarship to the University of Vermont where he studied Entrepreneurship and thrived on the ice with the Catamounts. However, a life altering turn came during his sophomore year when a Strength and Conditioning coach introduced him to Oxycontin, derailing his promising career and any hopes of becoming a professional hockey player. The year was 2008, and it would completely change the trajectory of Wahsontiio’s life, leading to a period of profound struggle and a 14-year journey through addiction and self-destruction. From jails, emergency rooms, trap houses, homelessness, and then on to multiple rehabilitation centers. In 2021 his recovery journey began.
Wahsontiio’s determination to rebuild his life led him to discover a passion for digital marketing while in a 3-month treatment program. “I became obsess with all the different digital marketing services and tools and all the insane A.I on the internet. And then basically all the learning became apart of my recovery I was realizing”.
His personal recovery story is at the heart of 1822 Websites & Designs, an agency founded to reflect his values of perseverance, belief, and the passion to learn new skills that can have an impact on people, businesses and on the world . Our agency is proudly Indigenous and we are open to working with all the different cultures and nationalities around the world. We are all about collaborating and making the world a beautiful and happy place.
